Headed Back Terms and Community Rules

Headed Back is operated by David Brady Cox, a sole proprietor in Florida. By using the app or getting Headed Back texts, you agree to these terms.
Not an emergency service
Headed Back is a convenience tool, not a safety device. It depends on your phone's battery, GPS and cell signal, all of which can fail. A check-in that never reached our server can't trigger an alert (the app tells you when that happens). It doesn't contact 911 or any rescue service. It doesn't replace a full-body harness, telling someone your plan, carrying a satellite messenger where there's no signal, or calling 911.
Text messages
- What people get: texts when the person who added them heads out or gets back, and alerts if they're overdue, miss a "Still OK?" check or their battery is low.
- Consent: you add someone's number only if they agreed. They get one text asking them to reply YES, and nothing else until they do.
- Frequency: varies; usually a few texts per trip. Message and data rates may apply.
- Opt out: reply STOP. Reply START to sign up again, HELP for help, or email [email protected]. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your part
Only add people who agreed to get texts. Keep your back-by time honest, and check out or add time so nobody gets alarmed for nothing.
Community rules (things you leave for others)
Road treasures, drawings, riddles, road stories, trails and hitchhiker notes are seen by everyone nearby. Drafts from the writing helper are yours to edit, and you're responsible for what you post. To post you must be 13 or older and follow these rules. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.
- No hate, harassment, bullying or threats.
- No sexual content, and nothing violent or graphic.
- No private information about anyone: no addresses, phone numbers, emails or license plates.
- No ads, links or spam.
- Nothing illegal, and nothing that sends people onto private property or somewhere unsafe.
- Don't pretend to be someone else.
A filter stops slurs, sexual content and threats before they post. Anyone can Report something or Block a person in the app. Three reports hide a post right away; we review every report, remove posts that break these rules, and ban accounts that keep breaking them.
Games: play it safe
Catching critters, claiming coupons, getting stamps and leaving things only work when you're stopped or on foot, not driving. Never use the app while driving. Follow the law, park hours and posted signs. Critters only appear at public places, but you're responsible for where you go.
Sponsored coupons
Coupons come from local businesses and are always labeled Sponsored. The business sets what the coupon is for and is responsible for honoring it. One per person, no cash value, can't be combined unless the business says so, and they expire. No alcohol offers.
What you post
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us permission to store it and show it in the app to people nearby. We may remove anything at any time. You can delete what you posted, or your whole account (Settings > Delete my account and data).
No warranty; limit of liability
Headed Back is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or harm from alerts that are late, missing or wrong, from any failure of the app, your phone or third-party services, or from anything someone else posts or any coupon a business offers.
Changes and contact
